The Young's Get Settled into 2010

Time seems to be going by very quickly so far as we start off this new year. Things have been busy in our family as they probably have been for most people. Jake is settled back into work after the time he took off work over Christmas and he's gearing up to start a new role in power scheduling. Jake has also been studying for his first Professional Risk Management designation exam and I'm proud of him for being able to balance work and family so well with his studying. Jake has also been getting handier and handier in our home with each year that we've been married (almost 5 years now!!!) and he has made some excellent progress with framing a bedroom in our basement.

Above you can see that the room is almost completely framed. There's a bedroom closet and a hall closet framed too. Of course, I had to catch a shot of the Foosball table; one of Jake's most cherished passtimes.

Celeste has been growing quickly and is able to do more now than ever. She stands all on her own and she walks with assistance but she is still shy to try walking without our help. We're excited that she can now point to and name things like her eyes, nose, ears, head, hair, toes, hands and tummy if we ask her where they are. She is also very, very fond of reading and she finds books and brings them to me frequently and asks me in her own way to read to her. Here she is enjoying some light reading of her own:

As for me, I've been doing exciting things like trying to find faster and more efficient ways of cleaning the house and trying to find more ideas for dinners. My favourite project at the moment is redecorating a room for Celeste to move into later this year. I'm currently focusing on making a quilt for her bed. We've enjoyed some fun family dinners lately and Jake and I are looking forward to having a couple of date nights in the near future. Hopefully we'll find somewhere special to go for our upcoming anniversary!
